Coastal Economies Aims
The programme aims to show why coasts are so highly rated as locations for settlement and economic activity, and how environmental issues arise as a result. Students should gain insights into: - The physical and economic factors that attract people and activity to coastal locations.
- Why river mouths are prime economic sites.
- How Teeside, Naples and Lisbon have exploited coastal and river-mouth sites, and how prosperity is often followed by decline and recovery.
