00.00 – 01.10
General introduction to the series.
01.11 – 03.33
We meet Kirstie who is completely unmotivated about her course and has no firm ideas about her future career. We find out that she enjoys creative things, such as graphics and photography, and that she is very sociable, but she is lacking in confidence about her course and ability to make a careers decision.
03.34 – 05.04
Kirstie meets life coach David McQueen and careers specialist Ann Duffy, and they explore why she is so unfocused and what is causing her to worry so much about making a mistake in her career choice. Her biggest fear is choosing the wrong job and not liking it, and Ann feels she is using this fear to avoid doing any thinking at all.
05.05 – 07.46
Kirstie goes to work with a catering company to experience what a low-skilled job entails. She doesn't enjoy the experience, but Ann and David want to show her what life will be like if she doesn't apply herself.
07.47 – 13.33
For her first challenge, Kirstie goes to work with a freelance photographer with over 20 years' experience. He sets her the task of taking photographs around the city centre that capture the essence and diversity of the city. She finds this really hard work and not what she expected photography to be like.
13.34 – 19.18
Kirstie is given her second challenge, which is to work in a top advertising agency for the day. She has to design new packaging for a pork scratchings packet.
19.19 – 19.33
Ann summarises Kirstie's experiences so far.
19.34 – 22.03
David takes Kirstie to visit the University of East London to find out about the graphic design and multi-media course there. She finds out what she would need to do to get a place on the course, including the need to keep a portfolio of her work.
22.04 – 22.26
A summary of the programme so far.
22.27 – 23.47
Three months later and Ann meets Kirstie to find out what she intends to do next. Kirstie has grown in confidence and is very interested in the university course that she found out about.
