This programme explores the impact of technology on schedules and how the industry works to get people to watch TV live. Students should understand:

• the impact of time-shifting technology and its threat to advertising revenues
• the role of schedulers
• the concept of peak-time
• why soaps appeal
• why TV that gets talked about is good for broadcasters
• the concept of 'together TV'
• the difference between 'sit back' and' lean forward' experiences.
