TEEN TYCOONS
OMNIBUS 1
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
00.00 – 00.59
Michael introduces the tycoons and the boardroom meeting.
01.00 – 06.58
Yaki Box
- Opens with the narrator saying, 'This time our challenge is to help David Mylinski with his product.'
- Closes with the narrator saying, 'Identifying his target market definitely got David off on the right track.'
David has designed and made a good product, but hasn't sold enough boxes to make a profit. Adam and Sarah help him identify his target market, and learn some selling techniques.
06.59 – 15.55
Pendragon
- Opens with the narrator saying, 'This time we've got a rather unusual business to turn around. It's a band that's been rocking for 30 years.'
- Closes with the narrator saying, 'Surprise, surprise. Nick never did agree to running a rock school. In business, you win some, you lose some.'
Michael comes up with an idea for re-inventing Pendragon and bringing in younger people to their gigs – a rock school to develop new talent. Nick Bennett, the band's front man, is not keen. Michael persuades him to promote the rock school on local radio, and auditions are held. The rock school is a success, but Nick will not agree to 'selling' his experience and knowledge. He doesn't mind giving it away, but that's not a recipe for a successful enterprise.
15.57 – 23.23
Kentchurch Court
- Opens with the narrator saying, 'This time, the business we have to turn round in just two weeks is a stately home.'
- Closes with Jan saying, 'To Kentchurch. Cheers m'dears.'
Jan Scudamore's bed-and-breakfast business is not bringing in the income she needs to generate to pay for the maintenance of her home, Kentchurch Court. Michael comes up with some ideas for promoting it during the Hay Festival, and on local radio. Jan won't go along with this as she doesn't want 'just anyone' staying in her home. Adam and Michael help her to promote tours of the house, with afternoon tea thrown in – something she finds acceptable and is good at. These could earn her £60,000 a year.
