Curriculum relevance

The programmes will be useful to support learning in PSHE and Citizenship at KS4 + and in Scotland Standard Grade: Area of Study 1, Area of Study 2; Intermediate 1; Intermediate 2 and Higher Grade. In England and Wales and Ireland, students following GCSE and AS /A level courses in General Studies and Sociology could also use the programmes to enhance learning.

England and Wales
PSHE/PSE KS4
Knowledge, skills and understanding 1: Developing confidence and responsibility and making the most of their abilities. Sections b, c, d.
Knowledge, skills and understanding 3: Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people. Sections a, c, d.

Citizenship KS4
Knowledge, skills and understanding 1: Knowledge and understanding about becoming informed citizens. Sections b and g.
Knowledge, skills and understanding 2: Developing skills of enquiry and communication. Sections a, b, c.

The programme would also give interesting background to any of the examined courses:

Northern Ireland

From 2005, KS4 Learning for Life and Work (Local and Global Citizenship Strand): Human Rights and Social Responsibility

Scotland
The programme will support a number of initiatives around citizenship, and Personal and Social Education. Teachers should check current guidelines. In particular the programme will support National Qualifications: Personal and Social Education all levels

Students should develop qualities of:

  • self esteem
  • respect and care for others
  • positive attitudes
  • commitment to learning for life
  • a sense of belonging to society
  • confidence in coping with life in a changing world.

The programme will support the units:
Personal Awareness and Development
Social Awareness and Development

May also be relevant for National Qualifications in Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies.
