SERIES AIMS
The 10 programmes have similar aims:
- To examine common communication problems faced by parents and teenagers
- To gain insight into how such problems arise, and raise awareness of different ways of dealing with them.
CURRICULUM RELEVANCE
England and Wales
The programmes are relevant for the following aspects of PSHE in the National Curriculum:
PSHE/PSE KS4
- Knowledge, skills and understanding 1: Developing confidence and responsibility and making the most of their abilities, sections a, b, c, d
- Knowledge, skills and understanding 2: Developing a healthy lifestyle, sections b (Ashleigh and Yvonne), c (Natashia and Kerry)
- Knowledge, skills and understanding 3: Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people, sections c (Ashleigh and Yvonne), e, f, g, h, i, j.
Breadth of study 4: Students should be taught the knowledge, skills and understanding through opportunities to:
- f develop relationships, for example, by discussing relationships in single and mixed sex groups
- g consider social and moral dilemmas, for example, young parenthood (Natashia and Kerry).
Citizenship KS4
- Knowledge, skills and understanding 2: Developing skills of enquiry and communication, sections b, c
- Knowledge, skills and understanding 3: Developing skills of participation and responsible action, sections a, b.
Scotland
The programmes are relevant for National Qualifications in Personal and Social Education.
