Learning Programme Notes - PSHE

LIFEPROOF

Take a camera, record your story, pass it to your friends and get their advice.

Group of contributors to the series

Gari and his mates (from Programme 2). When you're a teenager, your friends are everything.

Lifeproof is a multi-layered portrait of teen relationships, which peels back the layers to reveal what really makes them work.

At the centre of each programme is an issue that one of the teenagers needs to resolve, or a decision they need to make. Whether it's deciding to ask someone out or getting over a break-up, their friendship group will offer different perspectives, support and advice that will help them through it. The young people talk about love, sex, jealousy and heartbreak; fancying a friend and coming to terms with their sexuality; how to fit in and how to stand out. It explores identity, self-esteem and the pressures of growing up.

Intended mainly for 14-year-olds and older, the series is highly entertaining for young people since it moves at a fast pace and uses a popular video-diary style. It relates directly to the curriculum need to teach about personal relationships, and its believable characters and realistic problems will stimulate class debate.
