GET ME THE PRODUCER!
PROGRAMME 6
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
00.00-02.30
There is a short recap of the events of the five previous weeks.
01.50 – 08.36
Greg Dyke gives the final task to the remaining six candidates, Felicity (Fliss), Gina, Johnathan, Karen, Rebecca and Rebeka (Beks). It is an open brief, but he wants to see more teamwork and real ambition. They will all be producers. First, however, he takes them all on a night out to the National TV Awards at the Albert Hall. They are thrilled and spend the day shopping and getting prepared for this glittering occasion. The assembled stars offer them plenty of advice on being a producer.
07.56 – 12.57
Greg has given them free choice of genre, subject matter, presenter, and studio or outside broadcast. They will all be equal members of their respective teams, and their advisers, Ruth Joseph and Jeremy Salsby will only give guidance. Team A (guided by Ruth) is Felicity, Johnathan and Rebecca. Johnathan claims that he wants to reform and be a good team player – Felicity is impressed, Rebecca is not. Ruth likes their idea – an environmental makeover for two families – but emphasises that they must have a great presenter/mentor and first-class participants. Team B is Gina, Karen and Rebeka. Their idea is to take three aspiring creative artists and get them to compete to provide something for a celebrity. Like Ruth with the other team, Jeremy stresses the need for excellent casting.
12.17 – 17.19
Team B chooses hairdressers as their contestants. They need three unknown hair stylists, three models, a judge, a presenter – and a celebrity willing to let the winner style their hair. Team A is going with 'Fairy Green Mother', their environmental lifestyle makeover programme. After some difficulty, they finally find an enthusiastic academic to take on the title role, but she has her own ideas about what the film should include. There are some internal problems in Team B.
16.39 – 24.27
Team B still has no participants, but their luck suddenly turns at the last minute. They get their hairdressers and Tara Newley, their celebrity. Team A has a mentor/presenter but no participants for their show. There are some more cracks showing in Team B.
23.47 – 33.03
Team A's team spirit evaporates as Rebecca assumes control. Their filming is interrupted as the location has already been booked by another film crew. Team B's lack of social skills becomes apparent. Team A is distracted by filming a global-warming protest march. They are three hours behind schedule.
32.23 – 40.42
The teams each send one person up to pitch their ideas to Greg, Ruth and Jeremy before they watch the films. Karen introduces 'Make It Work'. Jeremy likes the format but Ruth and Greg think the content is dull. Felicity explains her team's show, 'Fairy Green Mother'. Jeremy and Ruth agree that the march was an unnecessary diversion, and Greg thinks the idea was 'ambitious'.
40.02 – end
Greg reviews the programmes. Team A is declared the winner and the members of Team B – Felicity, Johnathan and Rebecca – are devastated. Karen is next to be sent home but is more positive about the experience. Greg explains the prize – a year's contract working with Jeremy Salsby as a producer for Graham Norton's TV company. Of the two remaining contestants, it is Gina who is finally declared the winner.
