CURRICULUM
SERIES AIMS
- To encourage students to develop and understand the importance of Skills for Working Life, such as teamwork; communication skills; leadership skills; managing people; generating ideas, being creative; preparing thoroughly and 'thinking through'; planning and organising; time management; flexibility and adaptability; meeting deadlines; and working under pressure
- To enable students to consider and explore how teams form and perform
- To give students an insight into the challenges, excitement and stresses of working on television
- To widen students' understanding of television as a medium, and to show the issues involved in making live TV.
CURRICULUM RELEVANCE
England
Work-related learning
This is statutory for all students at key stage 4. Students should:
- Recognise, develop and apply their skills for enterprise and employability
- Learn about the way business enterprises operate, working roles and conditions, and rights and responsibilities in the work place
- Have experience (direct or indirect) of working practices and environments.
Enterprise education
- Enterprise capability – to create and implement new ideas and ways of doing things; handle uncertainty and respond positively to change; make reasonable risk/reward assessments and act upon them in one's personal and working life
- Business and economic understanding – to understand the business context and make informed choices between alternative uses of scarce resources.
Wales
Work-related education
- Understanding the changing demands of working life and its main economic features
- Having positive, adaptable and enterprising attitudes to lifelong learning and employment.
