DON'T MAKE ME ANGRY 1
PROGRAMME 2: CHERELLE
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
00:00 – 00:11
We see Cherelle at home with her mum and little sister.
00:27 – 00:1.53
Cherelle introduces herself and admits she can't keep quiet when she's annoyed. Her little brothers and sisters irritate her and we learn that she doesn't go to school regularly and is seriously under-achieving.
01:54 – 02:42
Dr Rachel Andrew is introduced. She will work with Cherelle for two weeks.
02:43 – 04:34
Cherelle and Rachel meet for the first time and they discuss where Cherelle's anger comes from. Her problems are not just home-based: her anger at school is ruining her chances of going to college in September and eventually becoming a lawyer or psychologist.
04:35 – 06:35
Cherelle's younger siblings are beginning to copy her angry outbursts. Her mum thinks she should start to take more responsibility and fears that she will waste her life if she doesn't change.
06:36 – 08:17
We see Cherelle interacting with her mother, and Cherelle's stubbornness is highlighted. Rachel analyses the situation.
08:18 – 13:10
Cherelle reveals her lack of commitment to changing her life. We see more of her family situation and Rachel gives her ideas for trying a different approach.
13:11 – 15:00
Cherelle's mother is disillusioned about her daughter's progress and we see how resentful Cherelle is about her younger siblings. However, we catch a glimpse of mother and daughter talking at last.
15:01 – 21:18
Cherelle goes to the job centre but there is nothing that interests her. This shows the reality of her situation. Rachel takes her to meet Yolande Beckles who runs an educational organisation called global graduates. Yolande says Cherelle can change her life and she meets the other students on Yolande's course. This inspires her.
21:19 – 23:46
It's Rachel's last day with Cherelle and her mum says how she's changed for the better. Cherelle is now happy, much more positive and has a good future ahead of her.
