In this episode we get to know more about Ryan. Ryan has befriended Jessie and has responsibility for her in class. It would be good if he remembered to tell her about the rules in school. However, he neglects that responsibility and gets carried away with the excitement of his birthday and the best present he's ever had. He breaks one of the school rules by bringing his new toy to school.

Also during this episode, Jessie has to learn the rules of playground games and behaviour. She gets very embarrassed when she continues playing after the whistle has been blown. The lessons learnt about rules in school are carried over to the den, where one of the gang writes what rules should operate there. They also welcome a new member of the gang, Ben, who is excited about learning to swim.

During the programme the teacher, Mrs Young, hears Ryan's toy bleeping during one of the lessons. She asks the culprit to own up. She reiterates the rules about not bringing such toys to school and threatens an end to the art lesson if no one owns up.
