MAGGIE: I married my Jim today, and I do believe I got the best man in the world. My dear friends Martha and Bessie were bridesmaids at my wedding and all my friends from the factory were there. Susan Bailey was not invited. A really wonderful day. And to think it all started with Bessie having her picture taken! |

Happiest day of my life. The only annoying thing was that I
couldn't take the photos myself. Maggie looked a picture, just as I
knew she would, and it was good to see Bessie there as a bridesmaid
and looking very fit. At the end Maggie and I cycled away on our
tandem - which seemed the only way to go - and everyone sang Daisy,
Daisy. What a team we'll make! BESSIE: Beautiful wedding. Martha and I were the bridesmaids and Maggie looked even better than I thought she would. Jim got a bit testy with the photographer, but apart from that everything worked a treat. And best of all, there's no pain in my jaw! SUSAN: Met one of the bryant and may girls while I was begging in the street. She tells me Maggie Johnson is getting married to a photografer today . Strange - a few years ago that would have made me jealus and angry. Now I don't seem to care. I just sit there with my begging bowl. Funny business, life. EX-FOREMAN WATKINS: Who said crime never pays? I'm doing very nicely, thankyou. All you have to do is wait till the pub shuts and they come staggering out. Then you just knock 'em on the head and take their gold watches. Nothing to it! Who needs Bryant and May? I don't know why I bothered with them all those years. |
