MAGGIE:
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee! Such a grand occasion. The streets of London were filled with people who had come to see the Queen's procession. I just managed to see the top of her parasol as her carriage went by. That evening we shared a celebration party with some of our neighbours and friends and greatly enjoyed watching the Jubilee bonfires light up the sky.

JIM:         Diamond Jubilee today. Went with Maggie and the girls and found a good spot near Hyde Park Corner. Took some excellent photos of the procession. Very excited to see Her Majesty in person. What a grand old lady! We all cheered our heads off.

MAUD:          This is the beginning of Maud Carter's diary. Mummy gave it me this morning. It has a picture of Queen Victoria on the outside. Today we went to see the procession and Alice and I waved our flags.

SUSAN:         Diamond Jubilee. Didn't do so bad for once. Evryone in a good mood and unusually free with their money. So God Save The Queen, says I!
EX-FOREMAN WATKINS:         Today was the start of my third year in Pentonville prison. Talk about bad luck. How was I to know it was a policeman I robbed? As I write this in my cell, I can hear the sound of cheering crowds. Stupid fools! Just wait till I get out of here. I'll wipe the smile off their faces. Only a month to go. I'm counting the days.
