Worksheet
  1. You have steered Hari through some of the trials and tribulations of the 4 Life saga. Now, take some time to reflect on the story line that you have followed. In small groups, discuss the following:

    • Do you think that Hari should change his attitude at all? Should he act any differently?
    • Did Hari's friends, family, or the authorities, offer the appropriate support? How could any of these people have been more supportive?
    • Do you think any of the characters are stereotypes? Why do you think that stereotyping happens? Is it wrong to create stereotypes?

  2. Give 3 examples of incidents that could be construed as racist.

  3. Make a list of at least 12 words that you associate with bullying.

  4. Give 3 examples of discriminatory behaviour and identify any law[s] designed to protect citizens from the types of behaviour you have listed.

  5. If you were being bullied where could you seek help and advice? Name at least 6 people, places or organistions that would be able to help.

  6. The Justice system treats young people differently to adults. Can you give 3 examples of this.

  7. How do you think a bully should be dealt with? Is bullying a crime? Can bullying behaviour ever be excused?

  8. Find out if your school has an anti-bullying policy. What does it say? Do you agree with it? Would you change it?

  9. You have been appointed as the student spokesperson for your school year. Your immediate task is to develop and promote an anti-bullying policy.

How would you go about raising awareness of the issues? How would you ensure that everyone in your year is given the opportunity to contribute towards the policy?

What types of activities could students get involved in to help ensure that everyone understands the issues e.g. poster campaign?

You will need to research Acts of Parliament, and laws, that your policies will have to comply with.
