Anthony Horowitz is a prolific
writer for film, TV and the theatre, as well as of children's
books. He always wanted to be a writer and, on his eighth birthday,
asked for a typewriter, pens and paper.
One of the things that made him want to be a writer
was going to a really horrible school, where he was so unhappy that
the only escape was through reading and writing. Anthony's horrible
school and his unhappy childhood feature in many of his books:
Groosham Grange is like his old school; he was a bit like Tad
Spencer; and the mean old granny in Granny is not all that
different from his own granny who he once described as 'a real old
crow'!
He has always enjoyed watching television. He loves
writing scripts for Agatha Christie's Poirot detective series and
other TV series such as Murder Most Horrid and Crime
Traveller.
Whoever he is writing for, Anthony always tells
exciting stories which are full of action and very
funny.
